Continuing our multi-disciplinary critical care lecture series is Dr. Rebecca Schroll, Assistant Professor in the Tulane School of Medicine Department of Surgery. Dr. Schroll is board certified in both General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care, and serves as the Medical Director of the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at Tulane University Medical Center. She has an active clinical and research practice with an emphasis on trauma and critical care, and as such, is the ideal person to present this talk on Compartment Syndromes.
Key points of her talk include the pathophysiology of both abdominal and extremity compartment syndromes, methods for the recognition of compartment syndromes, potential warning signs for the development of compartment syndromes, and most importantly for the non-surgeon, when to obtain surgical evaluation of a suspected compartment syndrome!
